How to Properly Store Your Halloween Decorations

The Halloween season has officially come and gone, which now means it’s time to put away your spooky decorations until next year! When putting away Halloween decorations, it’s essential to stay organized while ensuring they’re secure and safe from the risk of breaking in storage, especially if you plan to use them again next year. We have listed several helpful tips you can use to safely and effectively store your Halloween decorations now that the spooky season is in the rearview.

Utilize Plastic Bins

When it comes to putting away decorations, plastic bins are your best friends. They can store almost anything, make the organizing process significantly easier, and help protect your decorations from possible damage. One helpful tip that you should keep in mind is to color-code your bins! Choosing an orange or purple bin, or something Halloween-related, will save you a headache when searching for your decorations next year.

Make a List for Each Bin

It’s never a bad idea to make a list of all the items placed in each bin. Doing so will significantly improve the organization of each bin. Trust us, you will be thanking yourself next year when it’s time to bring out the Halloween decorations again. Make sure you tape the list to the top of the side of each bin to make the process much easier for yourself.

Use Plastic Bags

Some Halloween decorations need more care than others, for instance, your fabric decorations. These types of decorations should be placed away with care, and by care, we mean inside plastic bags. Doing so helps preserve each decoration, ensuring that it is not damaged during the 11 months it will be sitting in storage.

Clean Your Outdoor Halloween Decorations!

Outdoor Halloween decorations are very different from your indoor ones. They accumulate all types of outdoor weather debris, dirt, and grime. Before they go into storage, make sure you properly and effectively clean them to avoid damage and keep them in tip-top condition for next year’s season!

Replace Broken Halloween Decorations

If some decorations were broken, ruined, or experienced severe wear and tear during this year’s spooky season, try replacing them sooner rather than later! Stores are always hosting decoration sales after the holiday, so why not stay ahead of the game? Just think, it will be one less task that you will have to do next year!
